Darood is an invocation of blessings and peace which Muslims send to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him).
"Indeed Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet. O you who believe, Invoke Allah's blessings upon him and send you Salam (peace) to him (in abundance)." [33:56].
It is the duty of every Muslim to recite Darood as commanded by Allah, not only for reward but also because it brings us closer to Allah and His Messenger, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Recitation of Darood reflects one's true love and affection towards the Holy Prophet ﷺ which is the soul of faith.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever sends salah upon me once, Allah will send salah upon him tenfold, will erase ten of his sins, and will raise him ten degrees in status.
